Here is an extended preview of our last 3 patreon episodes.
We discussed the legendary Gray Barker at George Van Tassel's famed UFO Conventions in the Mojave Desert, Plasma physics and conceptions of the phenomena through the lens of Robert Temple's book "A New Science of Heaven", and Reichian ether ships and the strange discoveries and documentation of UFOs by the mysterious researcher Trevor James Constable in his "Cosmic Pulse of Life". We also discussed our theories on the New Jersey drone incursions and recent highly strange events. Featured on patreon episodes is also our new Frog Rain segment in which we discuss synchronous events and analyze connected literature. We look forward to bringing more free public episodes in 2025, but as always, the show goes down on patreon. So check us out there for just 5$ a month, where you will get access to our full archive as well as our regular exclusive ad free episodes, written content and more. We also have our print club tier to receive regular printed items and our exclusive Journal of Shells publication.

Is consciousness a hologram? Is existence a series of images of itself? Is the flying saucer boom of the mid-20th century just the afterlife of Theosophy in technoccult garments? What do mild mannered English aristocrats do in a crypt at night? Can there be an effective Qliphothic parody of Mr Brightside a la 2007 Youtube? These are questions posed and answered on this episode of Consensus Unreality.
Plus: Bonus exclusive Patreon discussions on the 23 enigma and more, including the inaugural installment of our new regular segment "Frog Rain," where we discuss synchronicities, Fortean weirdness, and other wacky mystifications.

In the final installment of our Pulp Magic series, we dive into the tunnel of mirrors that is the life, work, and legacy of Aleister Crowley. From the dark and unbelievable facts and possibilities of his biography, to his continued relevance in pop culture and profound influence on occult subcultures. Was Crowley a real person? A figment of his own imagination? A collective hallucination? Find out here!
Plus: an additional Patreon hour discussing the grosser, stranger aspects of Crowley, along with some other interesting conversation wrapping up Pulp Magic, and yet another film recommendation in our exploration of the Black Mass in film.

The first in a new series of episodes on the dizzying feedback loop of east-meets-west in the occult tradition. We open in an unlikely place: Sax Rohmer and his hugely popular, though now mostly rejected Fu Manchu novels. Why did Kenneth Grant choose Rohmer's Dope, alongside Richard Marsh's beloved gothic-exotic horror classic The Beetle, as reference texts for his monumental book The Ninth Arch? Was Fu Manchu born on a ouija board? Why did CU favorite Eugenia Macer-Story use the metaphor of Fu Manchu vs. the "lonesome cowboy" in her genius examination of the UFO phenomenon? Did any of those Theosophists ever really visit Tibet? The tension between so-called eastern and western mystical traditions may be the driving force of what we call occultism, and in this episode we lay the groundwork for a series which will investigate this concept in detail.

In this interview with cartomancer and tarot scholar Laetitia Barbier, we tour the realm of images and symbols known as the tarot. From Laetitia's own interesting first encounters with the cards in France (via radio!) to more complex and subtle discussions on the nature of reading images and the voice of the deck, this conversation is a great introduction to or refresher on the power behind an occult object that has become ubiquitous while not always being given its proper due.
Bio: French-born Laetitia Barbier is an independent scholar, as well as a professional tarot reader and teacher. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History from La Sorbonne University Paris in 2009. Laetitia has worked with Morbid Anatomy from 2011 to 2024 as a programming director, head librarian, and occasional curator. Her book Tarot and Divination Cards: A Visual Archive was published in 2021 with a foreword by Rachel Pollack. She is the author of the Tiger Tarot Guide Book, a unique Tarot deck by symbolist artist Lori Field. Laetitia has lectured, taught and read cards for various cultural institutions, such as Greenwood Cemetery, Artyard, Fotografiska NY, the College of Psychic Studies in London or the New York Public Library. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
